Villa Brighton Preparatory School is just like your average high school at first glance. It has the cliques. The queens. The Jocks; losers; loners; band geeks; rebels; burnouts...you name it, they've got it. Just like anywhere else. And it's in a pretty standard little town. A bit out of the way perhaps, but all around pretty standard...
The difference between these kids and the kids at any other high school in the country is that they've got some wicked dreams.
No no, not ambitions and life goals to become wicked...well some of them have that too. But these children are different because when they're dreaming, they live them. Their REM cycle is just a bit more acute. Their imaginations: wildly creative. Their suspension of disbelief, impenetrable. Whatever the reason, these kids are living double lives. One during the day, one from underneath their covers. They don't always remember what they've done the night before the next day at school, but likewise, they don't always remember what they were doing during the day at night. Of course sometimes they do. Some children remember everything. Every horrifying or glorious detail. And some can only recall flashes and feelings.
All they know is that when they're dreaming, its real. When they're awake, its real. Now think about that for a second. Wouldn't that get a bit confusing after a while? Doesn't that sound like it would drive a few people crazy? Most of the kids have no idea what's going on. They accept their dreams as vivid, nothing more. But a few of them...just a few have realized that something is just a little bit off in Brighton. Some of them are starting to question exactly why their parents enrolled them at the Villa. And one or two of them are even starting to question...why?
