Natasha was hunched over her homework in the library in the corner away from the others, working on the stupid potions essay. She would have had, had it finished long ago had she not decided to join some of the others from her house in a pick up qudditch game. But that was just something she couldn't pass up so there she was sitting in the library on a Sunday afternoon.
"Alright the purpose of wormwood is..." she said and groaned not knowing the answer. "Potions is evil!" she said and leaned her head on the table. She knew how to make the potions she just didn't understand the whole written part about the bloody things. "Book I need a book." she mumbled.
She sighed and stood up leaving her stuff at the table and went to the Potions section of the library and started browsing around looking for the book she needed. "Ah ha!" she said sofly to herself as she found the book she needed. "Damn." she mumbled the book she needed was on the top shelf and she couldn't reach it. She got up on her tippy toes and still failed. "Curse being short!" she said with a sigh and still continued in vain to try and reach the book.

Well, what was he supposed to do today? He had Transfiguration class in an hour, and a Charms assignment due in two days. That was pretty much the highlight of Caden's week, as he had little else to worry about. Professor Slughorn had given him a break in Potions, after showing remarkable work. He'd even inducted Caden into something called "The Slug Club". Apparently, it was a good thing to belong to, so Caden was proud. His parents would be too, he imagined.
Wit a slight yawn, he ruffled his hair as he made his way down corridors, hearing a few of his friends beckon to him every now and again. They all wanted him to come hang with them and maybe play Quidditch. He had to admit, he did love Quidditch, beiong on the Hufflepuff team and all, but he just didn't feel it today. He just felt like reading a good book, and so he was off to the Library.
As he walked into the large room, the smell in the air rather musty, he gave a jolly wave to severe looking Librarian, before setting out for a good read. He'd read books on just about everything he could, making many say he should have been sorted into Ravenclaw, though Caden really didn't care. He was happy enough being a Hufflepuff, and he didn't feel the need to change that. Continuing around the area, he spotted a girl, a rather short girl at that, who was trying in vain to get a book. It seemed to be just out of her reach, just mocking her from its spot on the shelf. With a kind smile, Caden made his way over to her, reaching up and grabbing the book with ease. His 6'1'' frame often helped him in situations like this. "There you are, then." Caden said cheerfully, a warm grin spread across his face.

Natasha was still trying to reach for the book in vain about ready to resort to jumping and trying to get it when a hand suddenly appeared and grabbed the from out of no where and heard,'There you are, then.' from a friendly voice. Natasha jumped slightly, startled by the other person's sudden apperance and her hand went to her heart. "Merlin!" she exclaimed turning around then took a deep a breath to see who it was. The boy looked slightly famlilar and a bit older. She saw his Hufflepuff crest on her robe and she assumed that's why she couldn't put a name with the face. him being in a different house and probably a year older. She then remembered he was on the Hufflepuff qudditch team she'd played against him numerous times herself being on the qudditch team, but his name just wasn't coming to her mind.
"Geez you scared me." she said then gave him an appreciative smile. "But thanks for getting the book for me... i'm cursed with being short" she said with a grin and took the book he had gotten off the shelf.

He had barely said a word when the girl jumped. Skittish little thing, eh? She shouted a little bit, too, before she took notice of Caden, who just kept his charming grin in place. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything by it." Caden said apologetically. His eyes wandered over her, taking notice of the distinct Gryffindor colors. She looked familiar enough, though he rightly couldn't put a name to the face. He felt a bit guilty about that, as she couldn't have been much younger than him. He must have had a class or something with her. Did she know his name? He'd feel even worse if she had.
"Ah now. Being short shouldn't be called a curse. It 's more like a blessing in disguise, eh? You meet new people because of it, right." He grinned again, before he placed his hand upon the shelf, leaning against it lightly. "I'm sorry, I really don't know your name. I'm Caden." His other hand hand reached up to his brow, giving her an introductory salute.

'I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything by it.' the boy said. "Oh no it's cool thanks for the help you just startled me is all." she said with a sheepish grin holding the book in both her arms. "Im not usually that jumpy..." she added. "You'd think being a Chaser on the qudditch team i'd be more aware of my surroundings. Guess i am only on the field." she said jokingly.
He then said to her that being short wasn't a curse but a gift in disguise. 'You meet new people because of it, right.' He finished and she smiled at him and nodded. "Yea i guess that part of it isn't bad." she said to him. 'Ah Caden that's it!' she thought to herself as he introduced himself. "Nice to meet you Caden, and it's fine i'm Natasha, Natasha Connors." she said to him with a friendly grin.

He smiled kindly, allowing her to explain herself, though she really didn't have to. He understood. When you didn't expect something to happen, you instinctively flinched...at least normal people did.
She introduced herself eventually, to which Caden grinned. Ah! Now he remembered her. He'd heard her name announced during matches so many times, and as she was a Chaser, he'd gone head to head with her during some of those matches, as he was Keeper for Hufflepuff. "Nice to officially meet you." he said with a charming grin. "I mean, I'm the Keeper for Hufflepuff, so I've seen you before...obviously." He blushed a little, realizing he said more than he needed to. He always seemed to ramble unnecessarily. Call it a curse.
"So, what exactly did you come into the Library for? Work or pleasure?" Yeah...cuz that didn't seem creepy at all to ask.
note;; sorry it's short and bad >.<

Natasha smiled at him and nodded as he said he was the Hufflepuff keeper. "Yea we've had plenty of encounters. You're a pretty good keeper. I always look forward to competeing against you guys." she said to him with a smile. He was indeed a very good keeper. Whenever she went to score it was usually a challenge to get the quaffle past Caden.
He then asked why she was in the library and she made a face. "Work, and it's potions unfortunately. I'm good at making them and suck at anything else involving them. I mean I like books and the library I just hate having to spend an afternoon cooped up doing homework." she said. "and you? You here for work or pleasure?" she asked him curiously.

He blushed some as the complement was sent his way. Caden was rather modest about his abilities upon the pitch. He loved the sport with his whole heart, but he'd never go out of his way to brag. He just wasn't that sort of guy. he was too humble. "Well, thank you." He said, smiling quite a bit. "The Gryffindor team is looking pretty sharp this year too. I guess this year will be different with a new Captain and all." It certainly would be different for Hufflepuff as well. The Captain from the previous year had graduated and had yet to be named for the following. It could have been anyone, which was new leadership either way. That could make or break the quidditch season.
He jokingly grimaced as she mentioned potions. True, Professor Slughorn wasn't so bad, but Caden just didn't take to Potions like he took to Charms or Flying. it just wasn't his thing. "I can understand that. I'm OK at making them too, it's just the essays are so boring and tedious." As essays were just boring tidbits about the uses of ingredients, they usually weren't much fun. "Ah me? Pleasure actually. I like reading...though I'll pass on textbooks" He gave a playful laugh before returning his gaze back to her face. "So, now we've officially met, Natasha, Chaser for Gryffindor."

Natasha nodded as Caden talked about quidditch, “Yea we are trying very hard this year and it’s a little different with the old captain gone but it’s going good. I can’t go into detail or the team will have my head for talking about our plays. ‘Fraternizing with the enemy.’ as they were saying.” She said with a light laugh and made quotes with her hands as she said fraternizing with the enemy.
“Although you seem like someone I’d much rather like to hang around with than some of the member of my team.” [/b]She said to him and the realized what she’d said and blushed a bit. “I’m sorry I just meant you seem like a nice person in general and it’s not that the people on my team aren’t nice they are just kinda well... they can be jerks.” She ranted meaning it. He seemed like a nice person and not because he was in Hufflepuff but becuase of how he'd acted. “Sorry I tend to rant a little sometimes.” She said to Caden then bit her lip while running a hand through her hair. She then decided to change the subject. “I agree essays are very boring. I mean I like reading as well homework just sucks.”Natasha said agreeing with Caden. She smiled as he said it was finally nice to meet her officially. “It’s nice to officially meet you as well Caden, keeper for Hufflepuff.” She said to him with a smile. [/blockquote][/size]
