----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The afternoon could be one of the most relaxing times of your day. Your classes were over for the most part, you had fully awaken from the previous night, you could have a plate of food in front of you...everything could go your way. On that fine afternoon, things were looking that way fro Caden. He had received the grades on his most recent Transfiguration exam, and was delighted to see a bright red "O" at the top of his paper. Things had to have been looking up, as everyone else had complained about what a hard test it had been. As he had surveyed his classmates, noting the "A"s and "E"s, and a few "P"s and "D"s, he realized he had done exceptionally well. His entire class was made up of Slytherins and Ravenclaws, so him achieving the only "O" was brag worthy. He wasn't that sort of guy though, so he pocketed his excellent grade, and had proceeded to the Great Hall where he was now seated.
He had chosen a place next to one of the younger Hufflepuff girls, who had started blushing furiously. He gave her a sweet smile, before pulling a plate towards him, piling it with all types of food. Mainly different variations of sandwich, not too mention his favorite, steak and kidney pie. Looking over his delightful meal, he rubbed his hands together before picking up a fork and digging in. The taste was so good, and he had been craving it since his first class...Divination.
Honestly, he had no idea why he still took that class. it probably was because of his Mother. She had loved Divination when she attended, and had worshiped the Professor who had taught it. Now that Caden was in the class, he thought his Mum had to have been a little off to worship an old bat who taught a subject like that. He wished he had taken Ancient Runes all these years, as his Father had instructed.
As he savored his food, he looked up at the enchanted ceiling, observing the current weather. It didn't look too promising, at least for the Quidditch Players. The bright blue color that had occupied the skies earlier, was now fading into a forbidding looking gray. This might have bother Caden, if he were planning on getting his broom out and going for a ride. On the contrary, the sight of the dark clouds looked great to him. He loved it when it rained. He might not like the mud afterward, but the rain was calming.
"Nice weather, eh?" He said to the young girl beside him, who flushed and ran down the table. She obviously couldn't handle talking to him. He shrugged it off as he looked back up at the ceiling, it always managed to captivate him.

Lunch time had arrived for the population of Hogwarts to enjoy. The day had been just like another uneventful day for the sixth year Slytherin. Class had been going at usual pace in Hogwarts, usual pace which was much slower than that of Ellie’s. But then, she didn’t mind attending them because she took it as a reminder of the subjects she had learned before. And as always, getting lessons from the professors here was beneficial to her, as she could ask questions in more depth than she could gain from all the books she read, and of course by doing that, increasing the competitiveness of her beloved house by gaining house points. However, such weak challenge failed to amuse her from time to time and she would get bored so easily. Thankfully she got a bunch of Slytherin comrades (and some from other houses too) who never cease to bring her entertainment.
To the Slytherin, the day was a mediocre one. She had just finished her class and she was heading for lunch with her school of friends along. She was not in the mood to socialize that day and during lunch she mostly kept quiet and observed her surroundings. Her friends understood her personality and respected it. It wasn’t as if she completely tuned them off. She could still know what her friends were talking about even when she was looking elsewhere or doing something else, an ability to multi-task well that actually provided a reason why her friends didn’t just abandon her. She still could keep up with their gossips and everything else.
Observing was one of her favorite things to do. She felt and knew that being an observant person was very important. She could figure out someone’s characters, strengths, and weaknesses merely just by observing them. And just like any other abilities, as you practiced it many times, it became easy. It was easy for Ellie to read most people, but of course, some people were very cautious or maybe we can call it borderline paranoid that they were harder to read. Most of these people resided in Slytherin. Even now after six years of schooling in Hogwarts she could discover new things whenever she did an observation on any Slytherin that she had observed before. They weren’t like Gryffindors, whose impulsive behavior and sense of justice were so predictable. And they were not Ravenclaws who put knowledge (and grades) above everything. And they weren’t Hufflepuffs who will act nice and fair to everyone.
Speaking of Hufflepuff, she noticed the current Head Boy whose first name she couldn’t recall sitting rather awkwardly next to a nervous and edgy younger girl whose face was as red as boiled lobster. It was quite strange to see people who sat not next to their age group. She frowned a bit and continued to observe the badger house table. Hartley, was it, the last name? She was quite certain that she got the name correct. A Head Boy’s name is worth remembering for, and the Head Girl’s, Durand, as well. The guy seemed to be looking up to the ceiling a lot. The ceiling was good for daydreaming and it was so Hufflepuffish to look and admire the ceiling, although, the frequency of the glancing was a bit too much for a normal Hufflepuff. Well, what did you expect from a Head Boy? There should be something that differentiated him from the rest.
Whilst munching her toast, she saw Hartley trying to attempt a conversation with the younger girl beside him. And of course as expected from a young Hufflepuff girl who had yet grown a backbone, she fled away from him. Ellie couldn’t help but guffaw a little, gaining questioning faces from her group of friends. She smiled and them and said, “Sorry, I wasn’t laughing at you. Anyway, I’ll be back soon. Got some Head Boy’s arse to lick.” She then stood up and walked confidently to the Hufflepuff table. She couldn’t care less about what others said. She already gained the reputation and probably it was a good chance to strike something up with the Head Boy. If her fame had preceded her he would have known her name. But if not, there was no hurt in getting more relations, wasn’t there?
She reached the Hufflepuff table and sat on the space the little girl left just now. She got a few scared and strange glances from the other Hufflepuffs but she proceeded anyway. “You shouldn’t do that you know, scaring your junior like that. After all you are the Head Boy who is supposed to be friendly and helpful, not scaring people off.”
