sabine says "magda is a great person. i've known her since first year, we were sitting in the same compartment on the hogwarts express. she's more of an extrovert, so she got the conversation started, and once we arrived at hogwarts we were both sorted into gryffindor. i never admitted it, but i was very glad that we hadn't been separated, she was like a life raft when i didn't know anyone else at hogwarts. we're very different people, but we're still the best of friends."

polly says "i actually knew magda before i even got to hogwarts. see, our mothers know each other, and she came by one time, and we wrote to each other after that. i'm so jealous of her, she got to live by the ocean! wish we could've visited a few times, i'm not allowed in public pools and we're nowhere near the sea. but when i got to hogwarts she made me feel really welcome. i know sabine too, so sometimes i'll tag along with magda and her friends. i kind of wish I'd been in gryffindor, because they're always having so much fun, and there are so many great people in the house. not that hufflepuff isn't nice too, but...well, magda is a good example, she's having so much more fun."
magda says "polly and i met through our mothers. one year, when we were on holiday in the uk, our family visited some old friends, ie. the aldertons. since we first met we've been pen pals, i'd write her letters from malta about how great the sea there was (just to make her jealous 'cos she's an ickle water-baby!) and how my sisters and i had almost been stung by a jellyfish! when polly came to hogwarts we celebrated with a party in the gryffindor common room (the hufflepuffs like to be all goody-two-shoes) and we're still making a good team to this day."
